camshaft

Hi all, I am building a normally aspirated unit but I am unsure which camshaft to use in it, the block is a 1330, the head will be modified with bronze guides 37mm inlet, 31 exhaust, 1.3 or 1.5 roller rockers depends on cam,
Lightened flywheel and back plate, clubman gearbox with a 3.1 final drive (I am using this because I bought it a few years ago and I’m trying to save a few quid), straight cut drop gears and 12” wheels, 1”3/4 SU k+N and stub stack.

Any ideas?

Benny

I think either a Kent 286 camshaft, or the Morspeed trackday cam would suit your needs. The SW5 is also an option, lots of people on here use that cam, and say it is good for a standard 1275 right up to a modded 1380!

I personally use the Morspeed cam in my modded 1293, and after having it set up properly, I would say its a brilliant cam. Pulls from below 1500rpm in any gear, and doesn’t lose power at any point.

Go for a 296 scatter, and forget about the rollers…

And I assume you’re going for a lightened Pre-verto (Diaphragm) clutch, I personally wouldn’t bother with a lightened Verto, as there’s not much which can be removed for the price you pay

i have an SW5 cam, and think it is fandabbidozy

or theres a SW10 :cheese:

id go with guess works, a higher lift cam with std rockers(seam welded) will create less wear on your cam lobes! And there wont be a huge about of drivability lost as you have the extra cc’s

thanks for your replys
