I need help choosing a cam!
heres the spec of my engine so far;
Heres my list of what I am doing to my little 1293 engine…
> 1275 rebore to 1293
New pistons (cast)
New/reground crank wedged and polished
Pre verto flywheel
Rebuilt box with a transX Diff and a 3.44 Final drive
1.5:1 rockers
stage 3 head
single 1.75" SU - Might upgrade to twin 1.5" SU’s later
Turbo clutch
12" wheels
Std drops
Maniflow inlet manifold
the new phase 2 Maniflow LCB
a stright though 2" Maniflow exhaurst S/S with just a C/E Backbox
Now the only thing I need to choose is the cam.
I do want something not too racy for town, as I don’t want more points for speeding, but I do want something that lets hell loose on the open road/ countrylane racing or track day!
I don’t mind a little bit of lumpyness, as am not lighten the flywheel, so should keep spining, in traffic!
There has been two choices I have been looking at, either a Kent 286 cam or the SW10 cam.
This will be a road going car, so MOT must be passable, and like I said, I won’t somthing that’ll turn a engine thats ok in town, into a firebreathing lump, out on the open roads!
Not really lookin at top speed, just top torque and top power available, but tame enough for sitting in traffic!
Edit: does anyone have the powerband figures for both cams…
I.e
Cam A, is 2000-7000rpm
Cam B, is 3000 - 8500rpm
