Boot Solenoid Release

Hi all,

I’m thinking about having an internal solenoid to release my smooth boot, and was wondering if anyone had some pictures of how they did it?

Cheers

Iv thought about this before and was thinking that maybe a cable release mechanism with a leaver in the cockpit somewhere, either down on the floor by the drivers seat of vertically mounted on the read bin.

Yer I thought of that, but this might be a bit more up to date .

then solenoid button behind drivers seat in the rear bin? button facing forwards (if that makes sense)

Was thinking about boot solenoids, but then thought is it really a good idea? If the inevitable happens and it goes wrong, you are lumped with no way of opening the boot and no access to the boot release mechanism?

Yeah not so good especially if the battery goes flat… with the battery being in the boot haha.

you could always put a manual cable release hidden in the car somewhere in case the battery goes flat etc

If your going this route make sure you have a manual release for sure, a friend of mine smoothed out all his doors and boot and fitted solenoid’s worked really well untill his battery went dead one day and couldnt open anything on the car.

I have now decided that is what I’m going to do, then add a solenoid onto the lock mechanism.
