Amp cross over?

I have an amp 400W.

I have a 10" subwoofer, also 400W peak.

The amp is 2 channels.

Would it help if I wired the sub off of both outputs?

I.e, channel 1+ out -> sub, channel2 - out -> sub, then bridge the other terminals (2)?

Wondering basically how to maximise the power from the amp.

Thanks very much,
Paul

lol really this post should be called amp bridging I thought u ment amp’s crossover. Anyway u can only bridge a amp 1’s u can’t do it twice, so if u wanted to bridge it, that would be it, it could then only run ur sub and nothing else.

Yeah you probably should do it! You’re not going to want to run one speaker off of it are you?

Bridge it! It’ll be louder!

You can bridge the amp, It will make the Sub louder and clearer as it will be recieving the correct power.

If the amp has a “MONO” setting, Then you can switch it to this, and Take the + Wire from channel one, and the - Wire from channel 2.

BUT if it dosent, then you will need to wire your 2 speaker wirings to a splitter box (Or just wire them together yourself) and then to the sub as 2 wires rather than 4.

Ive got 4 Channels running my 2 6X9s. Sounds much clearer than when it was 2 channels.

<|Ben|>

sorry scarface didnt know the name for it.

and thats it ben thanks for the hint i’ll give it a go, what’s the worst that can happen

hi paul,

what you are n about there ive done the same to my ste up, bridged it,

i found that give you the most profrmance

hope that helps

yeah had a play about today and it seems to put out more power.. quite chuffed with that, louder, and i didnt even have to buy anything ! brilliant !

yeah bridging basically allows all of the amps power to go to one output, whereas if you took it of one ± then you’d get basically half the power.

bridging is used when you need power for just one item, insted of say a pair of 6x9s, theres info on one of my FAQ’s at the top of the audio page
