When i brought my mini it already had hi-lo’s fitted. Last week i put a set of Gaz adjustables on it but the ride height seems to be different all round. Can anyone provide any pictures as to what i need to turn to adjust my hi-lo’s? The nearside back wheel is nearly sitting on the wheel arch, but the other three wheels are pretty much ok.
The only other thing i was worried about is if what i think i need to adjust at the back is correct the nuts are REALLY rusty!!!
Can anyone Help?
have u got a full tank of juice in it,that might be why the n/s back is so low, mine does the same, because of the weight.every time u jack up the car,the shocks need 2 settle when u drop it down,so when i was setting mine up i took it round the block2 get them 2 sit write.i used my mate wrk shop with a perfect flat floor and a tape measure,i measured off the sill lip 2 the floor, you just need 2 big spanners, and sum plus gas,or a penatrating oil 2 loosen them up,i put copped greese on mine when i fitted them 2 stop them corroiding up.
these are the hi los,u need 2 loose the nut nearest the rubber cone off,and then turn the end nut 2 where u want it,and tighten the other nut back up 2 stop it moving
You’re right i have just filled it up with fuel. Still think it will need adjusting up though. Cheers for your help i’ll give it a go tomorrow.
Actually since i fitted the new shocks i have a knocking noise from the fuel tank side of the car. Back of the Haynes manual reckons its the tank banging on the top of the new shock. Anyone else had this problem. Or know how to easily solve it? Haven’t had a chance to take the tank out and have a look yet!
mine made a nocking noise,it says 2 put a packer under the tank 2 stop it hitting the top of the shock.i used sum ply wood 2 lift it up abit,or c if u can lossen the metal strap off, lift the tank up,and tighten it up again.its because the back will b stiff so the tank will take the shock and move.
Did the plywood thing work then? How thick did you make it, and is it easy to wedge it in because my tank was well difficult to slide back in once i took it out?
i think it was only 5mm,just make 2 small squares.fit the tank as normal, put the stap on,tighten the bolt up finger tight, and then look at the very bottom of ur tank, the seam where the tanks welded 2 gether, just slide them under that and the boot floor, and tighten ur strap up,it should lift it up,and stop the movement.i think it was 5mm,just c how much u can lift it up buy,it was years ago scince idid it.hope it wrks,i just went off what it told me in the manual at the back.good luck!
Cheers for all the help mate i’ll try and sort it all out tomorrow.
