I am going to remove the 998 from my mayfair. I am planning to highly modify the engine for reliability and acceleration. Would it be better to refit the 998 or a 1275?? Plus leave reasons for your choice.
Thanks
from what i understand you can get a 998 to rev quite high but the extra torque you will get out of a 1275 just means you’ll get more from your mods,
but if you’ve got the £'s build a turbo engine
go for a 1275…more bang for your buck
> I am planning to highly modify the engine for reliability and acceleration
contradiction in terms, if you want reliability then don’t put a highly modified engine in…
Why is the 998 comming out, is it broken ?
and finally what’s the car being used for, as that will determin you engine requirements.
I am going to take out the engine to re-build it and to get some parts lightened and balanced, I also want straight cut gears.
I am going to rally it on gravel and use it on the road.
Thanks.
1275 then… ( or my preference 1330 )
Long journeys, Get a 1275, They rev lower at higher speeds. Spesh if you mess around with the gearing for 4th gear.
Cant stand my mini, it nearly redlines at 70mph in 4th!
Cant wait to get eth 1275 in.
DEFO 1275, My old 1275 used to do 100mph without a hickup. The 998 barely reaches 90.
<|Ben|>
Mine does 70 easy and its a 998
Binge, don’t forget your 1275 was an automatic which have incredibly long diffs, your 998 probably has a 3.44 in it which means it’s going about 4k rpm at 70.
