i have a complet mg metro which i am going to brake for parts and put on ebay so if any one wants any parts please let me no. it has a 1275 engine in it but i want to no is the metro engine better than the mini 1275 engine? as i have on of them spare as well but i an not sure which one is best to keep. both of them run fine. any info you guys could give me about them would be great.

i do want to sell one of them but don’t no which one yet as i have a 998 mini which i want to keep a 1275 for.

oh right i suppose you would want to keep the most powerful one which would be the mg one with around 73bhp give or take a few horses
make me an offer mate for the complete interior front / rear seats door cards, carpet, seatbelts (which are red)
Keep the Mg 1275, Bigger valves and the cam is great. As said already the Mg engine produced 72bhp in standard trim While the 1275 cooper engine is 65ish. normal mini 1275 is around 55bhp i think. Your choice but I know which one I would fit… MG. Also the front hubs on the metro are a bit stronger than the mini hubs. The MG metro also had 4 pot calpers as standard, All good stuff 4 your mini..

also what carb does the mg meto 1275 have on it? as the mini engine i have has the hif44 carb on it, and an electronic dizzy would you put these parts on the metro engine?

The Mg already has the HIF 44 and electronic ignition.

the hiff would be too much if the engine is bog standard but the electronic dizzy would make the car more realiable
the 998 i have is a standard engine so i think i will just put the dizzy on it. i am going to keep the mg metro 1275 engine and sell the 1275 mini engine on ebay so keep an eye out for it.

I cant remember with minis but if you fit one dissy off another capacity engine you may well find that the advance curve and total advance is wrong for your engine. As I said I’m not sure with mini dissys but I’d say it’s likely that there are different types!
